Precious Moms Devotional Isaiah

His Glorious Strength
By Karol Ladd

Key Scripture:  Isaiah 40:27-31 (New Living)
O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
 Have you never heard?
      Have you never understood?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
      and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Mom’s Reflection:
Worn out?  Exhausted?  Do you feel like you can’t go on?   Isaiah reminds us that the Lord sees our troubles and understands our situation. As the everlasting God and Creator of all the earth, he never grows tired and weary. We do, but he doesn’t.  Although we may be young and strong, we are not invincible.  God’s strength can be our help and strength. What greater comfort can there be than to know that our wonderful strong God sees our troubles, understands our weaknesses and wants to be our strength?
In this passage we see that those who wait on the Lord will gain new strength.  How do we, as busy moms, wait on the Lord?  Waiting on the Lord means we trust Him completely and have a confident expectation that He will help us.  It doesn’t mean we sit back and twiddle our thumbs, giving up our responsibilities because “God will do it all.”  We can wait on the Lord, confidently and patiently trusting Him, in the midst of our responsibilities.
During these summer months we can pray for creativity, patience and wisdom as we interact with our kids. With our eyes on Him, He will give us a new strength both physically and emotionally as we take one day at a time.  Keep this verse close at hand so you can continue to remind yourself of God’s love and care for you.

Prayer:
Glorious God, wonderful Father, I praise you for being my strength.  Praise you for being my rock and refuge.  Praise you for seeing my whole situation and understanding more than anyone else can.  Thank you for offering your strength to me.  Thank you that you never grow tired or weary.  Help me to wait on you with expectation, knowing that you will give me what I need for the journey.
This week I’m praying for: ____________________________
