Lori Seaborg lives on the Florida-Alabama Gulf Coast with her husband, Tim, and their four children: two boys and two girls, ages 4, 7, 10, and 12.
Homeschooling in the Seaborg household is a whole-life approach. Lori schools the children through rich literature, the Bible, and while working on art, crafting, organic gardening, laughing at their many loose chickens and Flower and April, the goats. While there are a few hours set aside for academic studies each day, life provides the bulk of the children’s education.
The Gulf Coast offers many unique schooling opportunities, so Lori and her family are kept busy with exciting field trips to the river, the beach, the bays, and the Gulf. The nearby historical cities of Pensacola, Florida and Mobile, Alabama also provide countless educational field trips.
Lori has written for many publications and websites over the years, but has found her niche in blogging. Through blogging, she feels she can keep her priorities in order while still helping others. Her topics include all aspects of managing a home, including homeschooling. She considers herself happy if someone can learn something from her, rather than learning it through life’s hard lessons.
Lori says, “I'm not the person who is ahead of you in mothering and homemaking knowledge. I'm just the gal right beside you, motivating the 12 year-old daydreamer, keeping up with the 10 year-old future homemaker extraordinaire (every mama needs a helper like this one!), teaching the rascally and incredibly cute 7 year-old while occupying the nearly-spoiled but still mostly sweet 4 year-old. Let's learn together!”
