Baby Shower Games

There are almost as many baby shower games out there as there are moms-to-be!  Here are a few ideas of easy games for your celebration.  If you’ve played a game that isn’t on our list, submit it here!

Don't Say "Cute"!
As guests arrive, hand them each one clothespin. Have them clip the pin to their shirt. If they say the word "cute", then someone can take their clothespin. You can substitute other words for “Cute” for the game (try “baby” or “tiny”), but you’d be surprised how hard it is to watch an expectant Mom opening her gifts without saying the word “Cute!” The person with the most clothespins at the end of the party wins! An easy game to play and a great ice breaker.

What’s in the Jar?
Buy 10 – 15 different flavors of baby food (the more flavors you buy, the less chance you’ll have a tie game). Make a master list with numbers and record the baby food flavors you have. Then remove the labels from the baby food jars and write on the lid of each jar the corresponding number. Each guest looks at each jar of food and makes a guess about what the food inside the jar is.  The person with the most correct guesses wins!  When the game is over, give all the baby food jars to the expectant mother along with the master list of what’s in the jars.

What’s in the diaper?
Melt a variety of types of candy into a baby diaper – mush it around to resemble poop and then have everyone guess which type it is.

How Big is Mom’s Stomach?
Hand ribbon or rolls of toilet paper around to each guest. Have each guest cut the ribbon to the length that they believe the mom-to-be's stomach is. After everyone has cut a ribbon, have the mom-to-be go around to each guest and try the ribbon on. The closest ribbon wins!

Memory Game
Buy a selection of small baby items and place on a tray (pacifiers, baby wipes, small toys, ducky, washcloth, spoon, baby nail clippers, etc.). Walk the tray around to each guest so that they have time to view the contents. Put the tray away (out of sight) and ask each guest to write down the items that they remember. Allow two minutes to create the lists (more or less depending on how many items you have). The person with the most items correct wins! After the game, give all the baby items to the mom-to-be as a gift!

Baby Gift Bingo
This game is played like regular bingo - guests win if they get a line in any direction on the card. Hand out bingo cards (either purchased or created on your computer). Leave the boxes in the grids blank. Ask the guests to fill in all of the boxes on their card with items they think the mom-to-be will get at the baby shower. Then, as the mom opens her gifts, the guests will mark off the items on their card as they are received. When a guest gets a line in any direction, have them shout out "bingo!" You can continue the game even after the first person has "bingo". You can make up the bingo cards ahead of time, but allowing your guests to create their own cards makes it easy on you, and ensures that no one feels like they got a “bum” bingo card. This is a great game to keep guests entertained if there are a lot of gifts to open.

Stock the Library Party
Each guest at the baby shower bring should one of their favorite books they liked as a child or that they liked reading to their own children. The guest should write a short message to the baby in the book – either about the book or an inspiring message, and then date and sign the book.  This gives the new parents a nice assortment of books for their little one.

Your Best Baby Advice
Ask each mom to write down her greatest piece of parenting advice and give to the mother-to-be. For a nice display tie a small piece of paper to a pacifier, baby bottle, or other useful baby gear. You’d be amazed at the funny things some people will say.

Who’s the fastest diaperer?
This game tests the speed of the guests! Hand out toy baby dolls and compete to see who can change a diaper the fastest. The winner should get a door prize.
